Where the Whimsy Begins

Hello, I'm Nicolette! I’m the hands, eyes, and occasionally questionable ideas behind Fracture & Frond. I create stained glass for colorful homes, curious corners, and people who think a little more is usually a little better.

A fondness for the wonderfully unnecessary.

I’ve always loved homes filled with things that make you stop and look twice — strange little treasures, too many plants, unexpected color, and art that doesn’t need a practical reason to exist.

Stained glass became my way of adding more of those moments to the world. Fracture & Frond grew from a love of making pieces that feel playful without feeling childish, beautiful without taking themselves too seriously, and special enough to earn a permanent spot in your favorite nook.

Made slowly. On purpose.

Every Fracture & Frond piece starts as a drawing and passes through my hands again and again before it’s ready for yours. Stained glass is a wonderfully imperfect process, and no two pieces ever come out quite the same.

Cut

It starts with a drawing. Each design is broken into individual shapes, traced onto glass, and carefully cut by hand.

Grind

Then everything has to fit. Every edge is ground and adjusted until all those separate little pieces settle into place together.

Foil

Piece by piece, it gets wrapped. Each edge is wrapped in copper foil by hand, creating the surface that will eventually hold the piece together.

Solder

And finally, it becomes one. The pieces are soldered together, cleaned, finished, and fussed over until the glass is ready to find its favorite nook.

When I’m not covered in glass dust…

You can usually find me rearranging plants, finding another object my house definitely did not need, dreaming up a stained-glass version of something mildly ridiculous, or deciding that an empty corner is really just an unfinished art project.
